Early afternoon U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in a telephone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, apologized for a November NATO air strike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers last November and prompted an infuriated Islamabad to slam the supply routes closed.
“We are sorry for the losses suffered by the Pakistani military. We are committed to working closely with Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent this from ever happening again,” Clinton said in a statement following the conversation.
FM : Khar, in turn, informed Clinton that Pakistan would reopen the supply routes and, in a major concession to the United States, would not follow through on threats to dramatically hike the transit fees, later in the evening puppet show by DCC Parliamentarians finally came onto this conclusion that NATO Supplies are resumed, as where the actual deal between Washington – Islamabad took place in early working hours. Before this the news was roaming around on various channels and the Newpapers, that Pakistan will resume supplies, thou it was all so obvious that even a non political figure would have said, sooner or later it will be Finalized Washington – Islamabad agreed.
Later on PAKISTANI TALIBAN THREATENS CONVOYS
The Pakistani Taliban militant group immediately threatened to attack trucks that resume carrying supplies into Afghanistan, where most of the 128,000 NATO soldiers are due to withdraw by the end of 2014.
“We will attack NATO supplies all over Pakistan. We will not allow anyone to use Pakistani soil to transport supplies that will be used against the Afghan people,” the group’s spokesman told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location.
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who said last month that Washington was losing patience with Pakistan because of the safe havens it offers to insurgents in neighbouring Afghanistan, welcomed the news that the supply routes would reopen.
NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen welcomed the announcement, saying it highlighted the important role Pakistan has in supporting a stable future for Afghanistan.
The Reaction of Pakistani People, apart from what TTP’s Statement is, They are against resuming supplies, Hence Pakistani’s has always suffered for being the ally of the United States in this unjustified war against terror, which seems more like ego issue. Fewer political figures has given the statement to come out on the streets to protest and stop the supplies, US-PAK ties been sensitive but over the period when supplies were suspended, Pakistanis were focusing more on domestic issues rather than ” International ” but now again NATO supplies has threats from TTP as well as Pakistanis since both are not in favor of it. Indeed Why Pakistan accepted an apology and Why Washington apologized having alternative route ( NDN ) preferred to resume this one has many reasons. The agreement appeared to include a commitment by the United States to initially pay Pakistan $1.8 billion in military aid arrears and expected to be given in 2 installments, one of which will be by the end of this month.
The consequences wouldn’t be in favor of the people of Pakistan, since the threat of TTP directly tells that Pakistan is going to be targeted, But Drone Attacks now will be done with the permission of Pakistan, ( the clearance ) don’t know how fair would it be, seems very illogical to me ” Waziristan been the target since 2007 ” constantly Drone are attacking killed over 40,000 civilians and statements are always come up that so and so militants were killed, CIA’s intelligence is based on Local Waziris agents and entire bombing procedure is done by GPS tracker, while operated 8000 miles away In CIA Head Quarter United States, at times it seems like Waziristan is not the Part of Pakistan and the way Pakistani’s are treating Waziri People ( Tribal Area ) like an orphan not the part of Pakistan. The Major Interest of United States in Waziristan is not because of Militancy ” Safe Heavens ” but the land itself, Back in mid 80’s Gen.Zia’s Era, CIA operatives visited Waziristan and took the samples of the soil after digging in, Yet unknown why the took the samples and was it for an Oil , Cooper , Gold or something beyond uranium. Pakistan’s economy is based on aid and funds by US and UK both been the contributor after KSA, which has stopped since several years, Corrupt Politics and the politicians never utilized the funds and aid on the purpose instead filled up their own accounts, Thus in simple way.
The entire destruction is going to get worst as the supplies will follow-up in upcoming days, when ever supplies been on there has been series of suicide bombing in Pakistan’s various cities and Wikipedia has the list of each one of them. The never-ending story continues on, Resuming Supplies surely going to cost Pakistanis, where as American’s have no idea they people of Pakistan hate United States, just because their Administrations of ruling the world less Super Powers more like a God.
Allah have mercy on Pakistan and hope it ends as Pakistani’s forget politics and unite together because I personally do not support US nor TTP but Pakistanis and what ever is being done is not in favor of my motherland.
